The artist has been trying to capture some mysterious animals. They look like apparitions of horses, but with deformed bodies. Some of them may have twisted necks, fragmented heads, or almost horse-like appearance but with disturbing glitches. They are inspired by a computer algorithm designed to generate fake images of reality, which succeeds in mimicking human faces, cats, or artworks, yet often malfunctions when making horses. Though horses are powerful and well-formed animals of masculine glory, these monsters that fascinate me are abnormal. They are horses that do not exist.
She glanced back at me before vanishing into the crimson purple woods
These lithograph works show one of the ghostly monsters. She glanced back at me before vanishing into the crimson purple woods.
These images are all that is left after the dream.
The smallest posters on earth
Made by a combination of letterpress and etching, here are some tiny posters that might help me seek the deformed horses.
One form of hopeless endeavor.
Life painting in dreams
The monsters rise from a place where meaning is destroyed.
I stayed in the foggy woods, or the imaginary meadow, or whatever, and do life-paintings of them.
Something to hold on to
So far there has been nothing to hold on to for my investigation, except for these two of the deformed horses.
I shaped them by hand, along with some lingering residue of the dream in that foggy, in-between space.
They are in a glitched and mixed colour disguise. As some sort of apparition in material form, they indeed feel cold, smooth, fragile, tend to slip away.
