Chaoming Zheng (Sadie) is an artist based in Shanghai and London.
She received a BA in Literature from Fudan University and recently graduated from a two-year MA programme from Royal College of Art.
Her artistic universe revolves around embodiment, connection, feminism, and accidents in reproducibility, through monstrous yet nostalgic epiphanies. She enjoys investigating the glitches lurking within a digital ‘amusement park’ that is powered by algorithms fed by bits of our physical world.
Like a shapeshifting bard, she reiterates the traumatic reality with fragile symbols and intimate poetry. Some wild mutations of a prolonged childhood dream, along with a secret revenge against the myths and lies of the halcyon old days, are mingled together in prints, paintings, moving images, and installations of broken dollhouses and abandoned rocking horses.
